Reports state that Instagram have launched their new feature Shopping in Reels. The feature will allow people to tag products in their reels and reach new audiences on a global stage.
Instagram are becoming even more focused on giving consumers the option to shop through social media by making it even easier for people to view and purchase the products they see in Instagram Reels.
Buying & selling on social media
Buying, selling, and marketing through social media hasn’t been brought about by the current pandemic but it has definitely helped push it. Just over a year ago businesses selling on social media was set to double and coincidently within those 6 months a pandemic hit bringing more people online than expected. It’s clear that more businesses have been utilizing social media, especially video and live features, making it unsurprising that social media companies are trying to capitalize on this demand by making it more appealing. It’s not just Instagram but also Facebook with the introduction of paid online events and updates to Facebook shops. It will be interesting to see what 2021 has in store for ecommerce through social media.
