Misguided adds locker delivery returns with Inpost – why not marketplaces?

Inpost Next Day Send service launched as usage triples

InPost UK have done a deal to provide their 24/7 self-serve parcel locker service to fashion retailer Missguided for bother locker delivery and returns.

As online shopping continues to gather pace, Missguided was keen to offer buyers a convenient contact-free delivery and returns option. The lockers are outdoors, available 24/7 enabling Missguided’s customers to collect a locker delivery or drop off a return when they feel safe, and the InPost Lockers are self-serve so there is no interaction with another person.

Parcels are delivered first time to lockers which reduces the failed delivery rate. This helps Missguided to lower the strain on its customer service teams and henceforth has a positive financial impact. The InPost delivery service is available immediately, with returns available in the coming days.

Lockers can be found at local railway stations, high streets, petrol station forecourts and supermarket which means customers are able to include contact-free parcel collection or drop off on the go, or whilst doing their food shopping.

“We’re constantly looking to be on the forefront and improve our customer experience. Partnering with InPost gives us a unique position with a delivery service that is open around the clock with the added benefits of being contact-free and also more environmentally friendly than home delivery. As we continue to see a real change in consumer behaviour not only towards online shopping, but in customers wanting more control over their deliveries – InPost Lockers will be a great addition to our delivery options. Offering a service that has minimal failed delivery rate is also hugely compelling.”
– Karl Harwood, Head of Distribution, Missguided

In COVID-19 world with consumers starting to return to the office, it’s no surprise to see retailers looking for no contact ways to achieve first time delivery and adding returns capability makes a lot of sense too.

What is surprising is, that with the exception of Amazon who have their own lockers, that marketplaces haven’t embraced locker delivery as part of their click and collect programmes. Most marketplaces have a partnership with at least one carrier offering a parcel shop solution, but few are offering lockers as a built in solution at checkout

As well as a locker delivery solution, this type of service could also double up for small businesses and consumers as a way to send parcels 24/7 and avoid the queues at the Post Office or parcel shops.
