Business owners in the U.S. will now be able to sell via Instagram DMs according to Mark Zuckerberg’s announcement today.
You can now buy products from small businesses and track your order in chat on Instagram in the US. Pay with Meta Pay and checkout in a few taps.
Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta
According to Meta, one billion people message a business across their family of apps each week. To make it easier for customers and businesses, Meta have introduced a new way to sell via Instagram DMs.
If you’re a qualified small business on Instagram, you’ll now be able to sell products to your customers without leaving the chat. For example, if your customer messages you about one of your products, you can chat with them about what they need and they’ll be able to order right there in the chat. In that same chat thread, customers can track their order and ask you any follow-up questions. Finally, consumers can use Meta Pay to complete purchases, making checkout even easier in just a few taps.
Using this new feature, small business owners will be able to:
- Chat with customers in real time to answer questions and confirm purchase details.
- Create a payment request with item description and price.
- Request and collect payment.
And when businesses are ready to set up their digital storefront, they can use Shops on Instagram and Facebook.
