BigCommerce has become an official patron of the British Fashion Council (BFC), a not-for-profit organisation created in 1983 with the role to strengthen British fashion in the global economy as a leader in responsible, creative businesses. This comes just a fortnight after eBay were announced as a BFC patron, showing the importance of fashion to the ecommerce industry.
BigCommerce also announced Jim Herbert, senior vice president and general manager of EMEA at BigCommerce, will join the BFC’s Industry Advisory Board which delivers top-level guidance on industry best practices around key topics including sustainability and diversity in the industry.
Through its latest investment in the British fashion industry, BigCommerce joins some of the world’s largest brands in supporting the BFC as it nurtures the future growth and success in British fashion by focusing on education, grant-giving and business mentoring.
BigCommerce is delighted to partner with the British Fashion Council and offer support and guidance in its mission to foster emerging talent within the fashion industry. As a leading Open SaaS ecommerce platform, we are keen to discover new and exciting partnerships that will further enable us to be advocates not only for fashion entrepreneurship but for aspiring merchants at all levels and across all industries.
– Jim Herbert, senior vice president and general manager of EMEA, BigCommerce
The BFC offers leading guidance on sustainability and circular fashion, and helps fund emerging British designers. It also organizes London Fashion Week three times a year — one of the ‘Big Four’ fashion weeks that includes New York, Milan and Paris — in which it showcases more than 250 designers to a global audience.
We welcome BigCommerce’s participation as it stands with a number of other high-profile brands in supporting our organisation through its vital contributions, to deliver significant and impactful programmes that benefit the fashion industry at large.
