Brits opt for local businesses this Valentine’s Day

Brits opt for local businesses

According to new data released by courier firm Addison Lee, love is in the air as 47% of Brits opt for local businesses this Valentine’s Day.

The data not only shows how local businesses are being supported by loving brits but also that 46% of people will be putting more effort in for Valentine’s Day than they did last year and two in five people will be looking for something one-off and unique for their loved ones.

It’s not just people in relationships celebrating as the data shows 31% of singles celebrating Valentine’s Day are determined to make it extra special for 2021. One in four people are celebrating Valentine’s Day by sending gifts to family, and one in five sending gifts to friends. The challenges we have all been facing are pushing people to spread love and why not do it on the day of love?

Consumer ecommerce anxiety

According to the findings, consumers are feeling anxiety whilst buying gifts this Valentine’s. Not being able to physically see what they are buying and orders not arriving on time are two common concerns. It’s clear that many Brits opt for local businesses where they can during special holidays, but with some still experiencing a varied level of shipping delays, understandably due to the pandemic, barriers remain. Fast and local Delivery options like AL Now will help provide businesses with more opportunities to ease those concerns and continue trading.

“It’s encouraging to see people backing local businesses by shopping with them this Valentine’s. As a company that has called London home for 45 years, we are proud to do our bit to support businesses at the heart of every London community – connecting them with their customers and providing a special delivery experience with every purchase”
