EKM welcomes three new virtual hires in July 2020

This July, EKM had the pleasure of welcoming three new virtual hires. We sat down with them to learn a bit more about their background and what they are looking forward to as a part of the EKM team.

Tallulah Phillips

Ecommerce Expert – Account Manager
From: London

Ben Sharrock

Web Designer – Evolution Mode
From: Bolton

Emily Talley

Ecommerce Expert – PPC
From: Blackpool

What are you likely to be drinking at your desk?

Tallulah: So I’m quite consistent with what I drink during a work day…. water all day long, it’s actually my fave drink, boring I know! But in terms of hot drinks, I usually have a chamomile tea or an earl grey with milk, probably about 4 cups in total a day…. more if someone is offering to brew up!
Ben: I drink tea and coffee, milk no sugar because I’m on a “health kick”, and a lot of water, like a lot.
Emily: At work I would drink a coffee with milk and 2 sugars, if I was trying to be healthy though I would do black coffee with honey. I usually drink tea when I work from home though!

What sort of hobbies do you like to do outside of work?

Tallulah: Skiing, Yoga, Art Collecting, Eating and Drinking, Walking, Meditation.
Ben: Play way too much xbox for my own good.
Emily: Family time, hiking, photography, eating pizza (or any food).

Do you have a background with ecommerce?

Tallulah: Yes, I worked in a digital design agency for just over 2 years.
Ben: I ran a pretty successful T-shirt selling business for around a year.
Emily: Yes! I have previously been working as a Digital Marketing Specialist in the USA with many companies running their marketing campaigns.

How have your first few days/weeks been so far?

Tallulah: It’s only half way through the first week but it’s been very informative. Everyone has been so helpful and welcoming. There’s a lot of information to take in but that’s normal and with time I should hopefully get to grips with it all.
Ben: It’s been a very fun and interesting few days, the best thing so far would be meeting everyone in the Evo team, and I don’t think there’s anything I’m unsure on at the moment, but I’m sure that will change.
Emily: My first days have been great, albeit a little strange doing it remotely, but everyone has been so lovely and made me feel so welcome, even from the comfort of my own home! I can’t wait to meet everyone in person!

Have you worked remotely before? What bits about WFH are you excited about? What bits are you worried about?

Tallulah: I’ve had the odd day here and there where I’ve WFH in the past. I’m looking forward to the shortest commute I’ll ever have. It might make joining a new company a little harder as there is no physical presence to ask questions to but I think I’m prepared for that and it seems there is always someone who will reply straight away.
Ben: This is the first time working from home, and admittedly it’s a little weird but I’m getting used to it. This is my first job that isn’t retail related, so that’s already very exciting. The thing I’m most worried about is the transition from WFH to being in the office.
Emily: Yes I have remotely before a few times. I enjoy it because it eliminates the commute, however it does limit social interactions and the building of workplace relationships.

Is there anything else you think we might like to know?

Tallulah: It’s a bit random but I love bees, how they work and what they do for the environment. My mum was a beekeeper a long way back so that might be where the interest in them comes from. I love a bit of gold and leopard print, which does make me sound like Pat Butcher but it’s just two things I’ve always been attracted to since I was little.
Ben: I have a super cute cat called Smudge, and I met Paddy McGuinness in a corner shop whilst buying milk.
Emily: My husband and I bought an old ambulance in America, converted it into a campervan and travelled around the US in it! I now have a cute 1 year-old son and his name is Wolfe!

We are so excited to welcome these three to our amazing team!
