Four marketplaces launch pan-European marketplace

Four leading marketplaces including eMAG, Cdiscount, ePrice and Real.de have teamed up to launch a pan-European marketplace in an effort supports merchants sell cross-border as they expand into the European territories.

The move will see the International Marketplace Network (IMN) uniting four marketplaces into an interface to enable merchants to use a single point to sync their products and sell in real-time, granting sellers access to more than “230 million potential customers.”

“We believe that IMN is a great opportunity for any of our sellers who want to start selling cross-border. Thus, eMAG Marketplace is continuing to develop projects that add value to Romanian sellers, but also to strengthen the ecosystem for online commerce that it has built. In addition, thanks to IMN, customers in Romania will have access to a wider range of products than before.”
– Florin Filote, director, eMAG Marketplace.

The new concept aims to support sellers’ expansion efforts by allaying the pain-points of ‘conquering’ new territories as traders won’t have to list separately on each country-specific platform. With the launch of IMN, European consumers will have access to a wider range of products and services.

“Until now, sellers who wanted to access more Marketplace-type platforms in Europe had to list their products separately on each available platform in the countries they wanted to sell. IMN is a step forward for the entire industry and a major technological breakthrough. The new network fits perfectly with Cdiscount’s desire to help small and medium-sized businesses go online and grow by accessing the European market. Also, I think it is an important achievement at European level, which underlines the dynamic and innovative character of Marketplace-type online trading networks.”
– Cdiscount, chief executive officer, Emmanuel Grenier.
